Last week in 2 Timothy 1:1-5, we heard the apostle Paul commend Timothy's "sincere faith."
What is that, anyway?
"Sincere" carries the idea of being true, genuine and authentic.
So what did Timothy have? He had true Christian faith.
He believed the gospel and all that it promises. That Jesus is both Sovereign Lord and Risen Saviour (Romans 10:9). One way to think about it is like this: "Faith is a humble confidence that Christ can do whatever he wills and will do whatever he promises."
