What Kind of Judge is Jesus?
Not everyone realizes that it’s Jesus who is the main authority on judgment, heaven and hell. Haven’t you heard James call Jesus “the Judge standing at the door” (Jas.5). Or Peter say Jesus “is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead” (Ac.10). Haven’t you read Paul’s words to the Romans that a day is coming when God will judge people’s secrets through Jesus Christ (Rom.2)? And don’t forget that Jesus himself says, “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats” (Mt.25:31-32).
One scholar says, “The entire New Testament is overshadowed by the certainty of a coming day of universal judgment… [and by the problem of] how may we sinners get right with God while there is yet time?” (Packer). Math and Reading are big topics in school. Well, divine judgment is a big topic in the Bible.
Here's a great animated video that illustrates what kind of judge is Jesus. He's the judge that becomes a saviour.
